Use

This IT process describes how to create templates for rooms and room parts. The administrator creates templates according to the specific collaboration processes used in the company. The easiest method is to create a template by copying and modifying a standard SAP template.

Prerequisites

The Content Administration portal role is assigned to the user.

Process Flow

The following IT process is incorporated in the Enterprise Portal (EP) usage type:

...

       1.      Copy template for rooms or room parts and edit duplicate.

The specialist department requires a new company-specific template. The administrator creates this template in the test system. Since SAP delivers a range of standard templates for common business processes, the administrator can copy (duplicate) a suitable standard SAP template and modify this as required.

The duplicate adopts the prescribed structure of the room or room part (pages in the workset) and the attributes of the template, but allows modifications.

       2.      Optional: Integrate a business application in the template.

The room (part) structure defined in the template can be extended with further applications. To do this, the administrator adds the corresponding iViews to the workset that is assigned to the room template. He or she extends the workset in the Portal Content Directory (PCD).

       3.      Define usage permissions for templates.

To ensure that the template can be seen only by the intended group of users, the administrator defines permissions in the attributes for the template.

       4.      Transport templates within the system landscape.

The template, which has been modified to suit the company’s requirements, is checked in the test system and corrected, if necessary. The validation function helps here. It identifies problems and indicates solutions.

If the template in the test system meets the requirements and ensures error-free functioning in the created rooms, the administrator transports it to the consolidation system and then to the production system.

Result

The new room template or room part template is available in the production system.
