Updating the Device Type Selection Data

Use

As explained in Device Type Selection, the selection data needs to be updated on a regular basis. The reason is that new printer models and the corresponding device types must be ‘introduced’ to the Device Type Selection function first to become selectable.

Procedure

The relationship between printer models and device types is stored in database table TSPOPIP. The list of printer manufacturers is stored in table TSPOPIMAN. The current version of the data in your system is displayed in the Dataset Version field in the top-right corner of the device type selection screen.

The latest data is provided in an XML file attached to SAP Note 1036961. The file name is tspopi-yyyymmdd.xml where yyyymmdd is the date of the file creation.

Note The XML file is zipped, so the actual attached file name is:

tspopi-yyyymmdd.zip.

To update the database tables, download the attachment from SAP Note 1036961 to your local PC and unzip it. At the bottom of the device type selection screen, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Update Table Information. A Table Update dialog box appears.

Enter tspopi-yyyymmdd.xml (with the appropriate path name) in te XML File Name field and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text .

Result

The XML files will be uploaded and the tables TSPOPIP and TSPOPIMAN will be updated automatically. Afterwards, the Dataset Version field will be filled with the current date, and the Device Type Selection function will provide the newest selection data.
