Re-Distributing a Printer Group to a Target
System Group
Use
While you configure your PAL landscape, it may become necessary to reorganize
a Printer Group or a Target System Group. For example, you can add or remove
PAL Printers from a Printer Group (see: Creating a Printer
Group). You can also add or remove Target Systems from a Target System
Group (see: Creating a Target
System Group).
If you do not perform a re-distribution afterwards, such changes will only
apply to the definition of the Printer Group, or Target System Group, in the
Central System. Therefore, you must use the re-distribution function to
reflect the changes made in the Central System in the Target System(s) as
well. When the re-distribution runs, PAL Printers then will be automatically
added to or removed from the affected Target Systems.
Example
Update Error Corrections
When a distribution fails with an error, for example because of an RFC
destination failure, you correct the RFC destination in the Target System(s)
first. Afterwards, you click Distribution Status, select the applicable
Printer Group and click Re-distribute.
Update Printer Group Modification
When you remove a PAL Printer from a Printer Group or a Target System from a
Target System Group, you must re-distribute the changed configuration to the
affected Target System group(s) as described in the example above.
