Additional master data for the Media Business Partner (SAP Business Partner) (0BP_MEDIA) is available in SAP BI for analyses of points of sale and retailers. These allow you to answer questions such as the following:
How many points of sale of a certain category (for example, bakery, gas station) are available?
When are the points of sale open (for example, Sundays or round the clock, seven days a week)?
To which retail chains do the points of sale belong, what is their shelf space, are they shop in shop points of sale?
The retailer analysis takes place for the Media Business Partner (SAP Business Partner) (0BP_MEDIA). The relevant POS attributes are added by the DataSource General Retailer Data (0ME_RETAILER_ATTR). Since these are master data attributes for the business partner, the system does not map the development of the POS data over time, for example, to evaluate how the number of points of sale has developed in comparison to alternative periods, such as the previous year. You can distinguish between business partners and retailers in the analyses using the Retailer indicator (0ME_RESELLR), which is set in SAP BI when transforming the POS data (DataSource: General Retailer Data).
Caution
Please note that there is no direct criterion for further distinguishing between retailers and resellers. However, you can distinguish between the two by using specific attributes in evaluations that are either only processed for retailers or for resellers in SAP ERP (for example, opening times - see the following section).
Although, like the general POS attributes of the retailer, they originate from the same DataSource (DataSource: General Retailer Data), the opening hours are managed in a separate InfoObject POS Opening Hours (Retailer) (0ME_BUSHOUR). The advantage of this is that it is easier to evaluate opening hours for individual weekdays (for example, open on Sundays) and to assign additional attributes to opening times according to additional indicators determined in SAP BI (for example, Open Throughout Day).
The following additional indicator attributes, which are determined in SAP BI from the opening hours during data transformation, are available in the InfoObject POS Opening Hours (Retailer):
Open 24 Hours (0ME_24OPEN) Indicates that the retailer is open all hours.
Open Throughout Day (0ME_ALLDAY) Indicates that the retailer is open throughout the day (without breaks).
Open Mornings (0ME_AM_OPEN) Indicates that the retailer is open in the mornings.
Open Afternoons (0ME_PM_OPEN) Indicates that the retailer is open in the afternoons.
Opening Hours Not Defined Correctly (0ME_NOTDEF) This indicator is selected if you have not defined the retailer's opening hours, or if you have defined them incompletely or incorrectly.
The indicators can be specified several times for a retailer; for example, the Open Mornings and Open Afternoons indicators can also be selected for a retailer who is open throughout the day.
The following table contains various constellations and indicates how they are interpreted during transformation of the BI Business Content for Media:
Open Mornings From | Open Mornings To | Open Afternoons From | Open Afternoons To | Open Throughout Day | Open 24 Hours | Open Mornings | Open Afternoons | Not defined |

Retailers and resellers are both managed in the object for POS Opening Hours (Retailer).
Caution
Please note that there is no characteristic that can be used to distinguish retailers directly from resellers. However, you can filter resellers directly in the BI queries by excluding business partners who are known as resellers.
The system provides information on the sales aids used at the point of sale in addition to the POS data on the retailer (DataSource: POS Sales Aids, 0ME_POSAID_ATTR)). For example, the sales aids provide information on the types of sales aid (for example, shelves, displays) are used, how they are filled with media titles (such as magazines) and their capacity (number of units per title).
For further information on sales aids, see POS Sales Aids (0ME_POSAID_ATTR).
