Procedure documentationGenerating Record Numbers and Document Numbers  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

       1.      In change mode, or when you create records or documents, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Attributes.

The system displays the dialog box Display Attributes.

       2.      Choose the input help for Unique ID.

The dialog box for selecting a generation rule is displayed.

       3.      Select a rule and choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

¡        If the type of the rule element does not require you to enter values, the record number is generated automatically. To complete the generation process, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

¡        If you have to enter values, the dialog box Entry for Generation Rule is displayed.

       4.      Use the input help to select the corresponding values.

       5.      If you select Default, this value cannot be changed when record numbers are regenerated. You do not need to make an entry since the value has already been specified.

Depending on the specified generation rule, various dialog boxes are displayed for entering values.

       6.      In the dialog box Display Attributes, there are two functions that you can select in the field Unique ID:

¡        This graphic is explained in the accompanying textUse Current Default: When the record number is assigned, the specified default value is used. This means that the unique ID is generated automatically.

¡        This graphic is explained in the accompanying text New Default: You can change the specified default.

To activate these functions, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.
