Units of Measure Specific to Characteristic
Values
You can deal with units of measure in the various ways:
· If all products are planned using the same unit of measure, such as kilograms, you can enter the appropriate fixed value in the planning level.
· If products use different units of measure, you can create a variable requiring planners to enter the appropriate unit of measure when they execute planning.
The above options form part of the standard functions in BW-BPS. For sales planning, however, you can also set the corresponding unit of measure for each characteristic value (such as each product).
· The Selection in Package indicator is set in the planning level for the characteristic for the unit of measure (such as 0SALES_UNIT).
· You need to be in the Settings for Planning Services screen.
Under Units of Measure, you can specify for each type of unit of measure (such as sales unit) on which characteristic that particular unit of measure is dependent. Generally, the characteristic for the product or product group is taken. You can specify for all values of this characteristic the unit of measure to be used in planning.
If a planner then needs to perform planning for products with different units of measure, the system inserts in the planning layout the unit of measure specified in the settings.
