In the Source Data View, the system displays the source data of the selected data message. You can edit the source data according to your authorization level. Whether you can change certain field values, depends also on the Customizing settings in Customizing activity
and Customizing activity If you have the authorization for the Emergency Correction mode you will be able to make changes to all fields of the source data.The Source Data View displays the data of the selected record type in a table. The values are displayed in the external format (for example, for date or numeric fields).
To switch to full screen mode, choose (Full Screen). In full screen mode, it is also possible to display the error messages in an additional subscreen. Therefore click (Toggle on/off Application Log). The application log messages for the selected data message are displayed. Double-clicking on the log message, will display the field the error belongs to.
There are some fixed columns in the Source Data View which can never be edited:
Exception: indicates whether the data line contains an error.
LINE_NR: contains the message index with line numbers. If there are nested tables in the object structure, several line numbers can be concatenated. For example, 1: 2.5 can have the meaning: index of data message: second financial posting, fifth item.
To save the current layout or select a different one, choose (Choose layout).
The editable cells have a different background color than the non-editable ones.
White: Editable, without error
Grey: Not editable, without error
Blue: Not editable, system assigns value automatically
Red: With error
Yellow: Changed, but has not been saved yet.
To edit cells, double-click the cell and edit the text in the dialog box that appears. To apply your changes to all rows, mark the changed row and choose Apply.
Note
For a field defined as Date, Time or Numeric type, you should maintain the value in the dialog text following the relevant format defined in your personal profile (use transaction SU3 to view your personal profile).
When a column/row is selected where fields are editable you can replace values by clicking (Search and Replace). In the dialog box that appears, you can enter a search string (whole cell content or string with wildcard ‘*’ and a new value. If you confirm your entry in the dialog box, the system replaces all corresponding values in the selected column with the new value
If you have changed data, the cells are highlighted yellow. The changes will only be saved if you choose Save in the Source Data View toolbar. If you select another record type or choose to leave the transaction without saving, a warning message appears allowing you to save, not to save or to cancel the action.
To show only the error messages, choose (Application Error Messages). To switch back to the display of all messages, choose (Show all messages).
To display the log messages belonging to a source data line in the log messages screen, mark the source data line or the concerned field in the Source Data View and choose (Display the error message(s)).
