The messages are grouped by namespace, interface name and version, and also by key fields, if this is customized.

Features

Functions of the Data Messages View toolbar:
  • To expand or collapse the selected nodes, choose Expand (Expand) or Collapse (Collapse)

  • Reading messages: Reading a message means reading the corresponding application log, loading it into the Log Messages View and displaying the object structure in the Record Types View. If multiple messages are selected, displaying the object structure works only if the structure is the same in all selected messages. You have the following options:

    • Double-click a message for single selection

    • Double-click a node (root node, namespace, interface or key field) for the selection of all messages in the whole sub-tree

    • Select any number of messages/nodes and choose Read

  • Restart the selected message: If you have analyzed the error and corrected it, by for example, changing the value mapping, you can restart the message by clicking Restart. The restart function only works for messages which were processed in the integration engine. You can select single or multiple data messages or a whole node for restarting. Restarting a message will update the status icon in the Data Message View. The icon will switch to Manual Restart. After some seconds click the Refresh button on the main tool bar. All views are updated and the status icon of the message will indicate the new message status.

  • Cancel the selected message: There are three different reasons when it makes sense to cancel a message.

    • The first reason is that a new message was sent that was successful

    • The second reason is that the processing steps of the message were executed manually

    • The third reason is that the message has become irrelevant

The Cancel function only works for messages which were processed in the integration engine. You are also able to cancel single or multiple messages. When a message is canceled the status icon will be updated.

Note Note

If you have canceled a message, you cannot restart the processing for this message anymore.

End of the note.
  • Jump to the monitor of the local Integration Engine: Select a message and choose Integration Engine: Monitor (Integration Engine: Monitor). There you can find more detailed information about the message. For more information refer to documentation of the local Integration Engine (  http://help.sap.com/   SAP NetWeaver   SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s)   SAP NetWeaver 7.0   SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Library (English)   SAP NetWeaver Library   SAP NetWeaver by Key Capability   Process Integration by Key Capability   SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure   Runtime   Integration Engine   Monitoring XML Messages   Displaying Message Versions

  • Jump to QRFC monitor: Select a message and choose QRFC Monitor (QRFC Monitor). For more information, refer to the documentation of the QRFC Monitor   http://help.sap.com/   SAP NetWeaver   SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s)   SAP NetWeaver 7.0   SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Library (English)   Application Platform by Key Capability   Platform-Wide Services   Connectivity   Components of SAP Communication Technology   Classical SAP Technologies (ABAP)   RFC   Queued Remote Function Call (qRFC)   qRFC Administration

  • Change Layout: To change, save and manage the layout of the hierarchical tree in the data message view choose Select layout (Select layout). You select and manage a predefined layout or you can define a new layout that fits your needs.

  • Maintain Trace Level: To maintain the trace level for the selected message(s) or for a specific interface, select a message and choose Maintain Trace
Level (Maintain Trace Level). If you need more information about why the processing of a message failed you can increase the trace level for the interface and restart the message. It is important that you specify an expiry date for the trace level otherwise the message received by this interface will create more log messages than necessary.

Display of Messages in the Data Messages View:
  • The counter in the node text shows the number of messages in the corresponding sub-tree.

  • The columns to the right of the tree depend on the layout variant. The following columns can be displayed:

    • Error statistics display the number of log messages that exist (also added up on each tree level). The error statistics are grouped into the number of abort, error, warning, success and information log messages

    • Message GUID and interface keys

  • The icons used for the hierarchy nodes depend on the current interface-specific customizing.

    Examples:

    Pre-System No./Name (Pre-System No./Name)

Sales Document Type (Sales Document Type)

    Sales Organization (Sales Organization)

  • The status of a message is indicated by an icon. To look up their meaning, choose Icon Help.

    Most important icons:

Scheduled (Scheduled): message is in the queue, but not processed yet -> see qRFC Monitor

Changed Manually (Changed Manually): restart to reprocess the changed data message necessary

Application Error (Application Error): manual Restart Possible, errors are described in the log messages

Manual Restart (Manual Restart): message was manually restarted and is in the queue, but not processed yet -> see qRFC Monitor

    Processed Successfully (Processed Successfully)

    Canceled Manually (Canceled Manually)

  • The node text of a message contains a temporary message index and the date and time. The message index is used to visualize the relation between the message in the data messages view and the error messages in the log messages view.
