Object Manager

Use

The object manager lets you search for and select objects that you want to display or edit.

Prerequisites

You are familiar with the application’s validity concept. The validity concept influences which objects are found during a search.

Features

The Object Manager comprises the search area and the selection area.

In the search area, one or more search functions such as search term and structure search are available for each object type on offer. The search functions are indicated with . The object type can also have a search function. Object types are all indicated with the relevant object type-specific symbol.

Note

If required, you can add additional object types and search functions in Customizing. You can also change the order of search functions. For more information see the Implementation Guide (IMG) under Personnel Management ® Global Settings in Personnel Management ® Settings for Object Manager or see the Organizational Management IMG.

In the search area, you can create search variants to use compiled search criteria or sets of hits more than once. The search variants are indicated with .
Objects that are being searched for in the search area and objects that have been found are displayed in the selection area. Depending on the search function, this can be in the form of a hit list or structure.
These arrows enable you to scroll through the previous search results in the selection area.
You can completely hide or show the Object Manager in which case the work area becomes larger or smaller. Choose Settings ® Show Object Manager or Hide Object Manager.
This icon enables you to expand or reduce the selection area to display more hits. The search area is then shown or hidden, as appropriate.

Note

The settings you last made for the size of the screen areas and the objects you last selected are saved as user-specific and are available the next time you access the transaction.

Report RH_DELETE_OM_USER_SETTINGS allows you to reset these settings and the objects that you last selected. Note that the reset has cross-application consequences. For more information, read the report documentation.

Accessing the menu using a right mouse click, you can access generic object services for a selected object. Use a right mouse click to choose an object in the selection area, and choose Generic Object Services.
