Using Search Tools
The search tools provided offer you various ways of searching for objects, depending on the object type you want to find.
The
search tools are indicated with
. The object type itself may also have a
search tool. The object types are flagged with the relevant
object type-specific symbol.
You should be familiar with how the search tools are organized.

Search tools may be displayed under the object type
in question. In this case, they are indicated with
.

1. Choose search term (or the required object type if it has a search function).
The dialog box Find <Object type> is called.
2. Enter a name. This can be a name, an abbreviation or a numerical ID. You can also invoke a wildcard search by entering *.
3. If necessary, restrict the hit list. Specify whether the object(s) you are searching for are assigned directly or indirectly to the object you entered.
4.
Choose
Find.
The search result is displayed in the selection area. The display in the overview and detail areas does not change.
5.
If necessary, you can start another search for the
same object type and click
Add to add the hits to the first hit
list in the selection area.
6. Double click the required object in the selection area.
The search tool Free search uses the InfoSet Query.

The dialog box Determine object of type
<object type> appears. For more information, refer to
HR in the InfoSet
Query. After the search, the search result is displayed in
the selection area.

1. Choose Structure search (or the required object type if this has a search function).
All the objects of the object type that are found are displayed in a tree structure in the selection area according to their assignment to the organizational structure.

If necessary, you can click
to
refresh the hits displayed in the selection area.
This is recommended
if, for example, you have just created new objects.
2. Expand the structure to the required object.

To display unrelated objects, choose

3. Double-click the required object in the selection area.
