Use

From the start page, users can:
Access all Web applications for MIC for which they are authorized
Perform the tasks that are assigned to them.

Prerequisites

·        Single Sign-On (SSO2) is activated on the server.

·        The HTTP and HTTPS services are activated.

·        You have activated the MIC Web applications.

For more information on these three points, see the documentation on the IMG activity Activate Web Applications in Customizing for MIC.

·        You have determined the URL for the start page.

For more information, see the documentation on the IMG activity Determine URL for Start Page in Customizing for MIC.

Features

The start page is called up in the language that is set as the user's preferred language in the user's Web Browser.

The start page has the following layout:

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Header Area

The header area is always shown, not just on the actual start page but also whenever you have selected a Web application.

You can execute the following functions:

·        Make personalization settings

·        Return to the start page from any Web application

·        Logoff from the system

With the Personalization function, you can specify a timeframe and an organizational unit that should be valid for you. The system displays the specified values in the header area. Furthermore, you can specify the sequence in which the possible sections of the information area should appear.

Navigation Area

In the navigation area, the user currently logged on sees all of the tasks that he or she is generally authorized to display or perform, regardless of whether the tasks are currently scheduled for that user.

When a task is selected using the navigation area, the corresponding Web application is initially empty. You have to use the search area to call up the object that you want to edit. Editing applies for the timeframe that you have entered in the personalization settings.

Information Area

In the information area, you should always display the task list. Furthermore, you can use personalization to show an area for additional information and an area that monitors sign-offs.

·        The task list displays all of the tasks that have been scheduled for the user currently logged on or that were triggered when another task was performed (see Task Scheduling). Beside each task, the task list also displays for which object (such as the specific organizational unit) the task needs to be performed. The personalization settings do not affect the task list. The task list always contains information about the timeframe and objects for which a task is to be performed.

When the task list contains more than 100 entries, the list is buffered in temporary storage and is no longer updated automatically. This means that completed tasks are not removed until the list is refreshed. You can obtain the current version by choosing Refresh.

Note

You can have an e-mail notification sent automatically to the user whenever a new task appears in that user's task list. You make the settings for this in Customizing for MIC under Workflow ® E-mail Notification.

·        Under More Information, users can access links to documents that the power user has placed there. The power user does this by specifying the URL to the desired documents in Customizing for MIC under Display Documents with Additional Information on Start Page.

·        Under Sign-Off: Monitor, you receive an overview of the sign-offs for the timeframe and organizational units that are specified in your personalization data. The prerequisite for displaying this area is authorization to perform sign-off or authorization for the task Display Sign-Off (DISP-SIGNO).

When the user chooses a Web application, the navigation and information area is replaced by the People-Centric UI Application Window.
