Mass Assignment of Testers 

Use

You can use a Web application to assign a number of testers in one go. In this way, you do not have to assign one or more testers separately for each control or management control.

Prerequisites

You have authorization for one of the following tasks:

·        Mass Assignment of Testers to Controls (ASGN-MT2CN)

·        Mass Assignment of Testers to Management Controls (ASGN-MT2MC)

Features

You perform the mass assignment of testers for all controls or management controls belonging to a process group or organizational unit. You have to perform the assignment for the same timeframe in which the tests have been scheduled to be performed.

In the mass assignment of testers, you can specify one or more testers to be assigned to all controls or management controls. If a tester assignment already exists for individual controls or management controls, you can specify how the system handles those assignments using the following options:

·        Overwrite All Existing Testers: The system deletes all existing assignments and assigns instead the testers you have specified.

·        Keep Existing Testers: The system retains the existing tester assignment and does not make any changes.

·        Add Central Tester as Additional Tester: The system retains the existing tester assignment and includes as additional testers the testers you have specified.

If you select one of the options involving a change to the existing tester assignment (first and last option), you can specify that any work items that have already been sent to the existing testers but that have not yet been closed by those testers are canceled. To do this, set the Cancel Workflows indicator.

You can start the actual tester assignment in dialog processing or in background processing. In both cases, a log in the relevant tab page in the Web application displays which testers are assigned to which controls or management controls after mass tester assignment.

Activities

       1.      In the personalization settings, enter the timeframe for which the test is scheduled.

       2.      Use the navigation bar to call the Web application for the mass assignment of testers.

       3.      First, choose the organizational unit or the process group containing the controls or management controls that you want to assign to the testers.

       4.      Specify the tester or testers that you want to assign.

       5.      Specify how the system should handle existing tester assignments.

       6.      Use the appropriate pushbuttons to specify whether the system should execute the tester assignments using dialog or background processing, and choose Save.

When the system has completed tester assignment, the text Check result appears in the Processing Status field.

       7.      Check the result of the assignment in the Log tab page.
