Calculation of Average Weekly
Earnings
The payroll function AVERA performs the complete averages calculation to determine the Average Weekly Earnings (AWE) of an employee. The calculation of AWE values per employee is necessary to establish eligibility for statutory absence payments.
The average value is calculated for each average calculation rule. There is a separate average calculation rule for each distinct statutory absence, as follows:
· AAWE: Statutory Adoption Pay
· MAWE: Statutory Maternity Pay
· PAWE: Statutory Paternity Pay
· SAWE: Statutory Sick Pay

AVERA calculates AWE values per employee and enters them in the table Average. At this stage of the calculation process, eligibility for the relevant Statutory Absence Payment is established.
In GBSxP Phase II processing, the payroll function GBSXP calls function AVERA and reads the calculated average values per employee from AVERA. GBSXP then calculates the wage types and payments to be made for each respective employee and statutory absence.
Function AVERA is delivered by SAP and requires no further amendment.
You must ensure (as with the average bases /202 & /203) that the average bases /211, /212 and /213 are now filled correctly for their own purposes from their own payment wage types.
