Using the exception messages, the MRP controller can check the materials for critical situations. When the MRP controller analyzes the exception messages they can closely examine certain MRP elements, for example sales orders, planned orders for which these exception messages have been displayed. If necessary the MRP controller can intervene.

The exception messages are created during the MRP.

AFS has developed its own exception message in addition to that of the SAP standard, which indicates the critical planning situation with consideration of AFS-specific data (grid values and categories).
