Use

The system automatically calculates the open-to-delivery (OTD) window for an allocation run. All open schedule lines having delivery dates falling in this window and matching the selection criteria are automatically included in the allocation run. You can specify exactly how the system is to determine this date.

Activities

You can either enter the beginning and ending dates manually in the Open to delivery date range fields, or have the system calculate them automatically. To calculate automatically, you can make one or more of the following entries:

·        Base date. The default is the system date, but you can override this with a past or future date of your choice.

·        Adjusted delivery from date (this is a number of days, not a date)

·        Adjusted delivery to date (this is a number of days, not a date)

Only valid working days included when calculating the starting and ending dates.

You can use the open to delivery date range either:

·        Directly on the selection screen when executing an ARun. This is a one-time event.

·        In the selection set. In this case, the system will calculate the date range whenever you execute an ARun using this selection set.

The open-to-delivery window is recalculated each time the allocation run uses the selection set.

Example

As normal practice, you want allocation runs for a given selection set to include all orders due for delivery within a seven day period starting three days in the past and ending four days in the future. For this case, the entries would be as follows:

Field

Value

Open to delivery

(Blank -- system will calculate this)

Base date

(Blank -- system will use current date)

Adjusted delivery from date

-3

Adjusted delivery to date

4

If today is November 10, then the allocation run includes all sales orders from November 7 to November 14, assuming shipping takes place seven days a week. If November 7 is a holiday in your logistics calendar and no shipments will be made, then the From date is pushed ahead one day to November 8. Likewise, if a one of the days in the future is a holiday, the To date is moved ahead to November 15. Whenever a beginning or an ending date falls on a nonshipment date, the system moves ahead to the next valid shipping date.

If you enter the OTD range, you only need to enter either the beginning or ending date; the system calculates forward or backward to determine the other end of the delivery window. Hence, the following entries would give the same result:

Field

Value

Open to delivery

(Blank -- system will calculate this)

Base date

11/14/2001

Adjusted delivery from date

-7

Adjusted delivery to date

(Blank -- system will calculate this)

This tells the system to calculate 7 days back from 11/14/2001 to determine the beginning date.

Note

A minus sign tells the system to subtract the number of days from the base date. An entry without a sign indicates that the system should add that number of days to the base date. It is also possible to have minus signs in both of the adjusted delivery date fields. This only makes sense if the entry in the From date is larger than To date.
