Use

Make-to-order production is a production cycle that guarantees that a material is produced exactly according to the requirements of one customer. The time and effort required and the components used are specially geared for this customer, so that the finished product cannot easily be resold.

Features

Similar to the processes of the purchase-to-order procurement and third-party order processing, a planned order is created for each order item that is exactly assigned to the sales order item which triggers the process. Thus the planned orders can only be assigned to the requirement of this specific customer. You can do that by an account assignment of the created stock elements. In AFS, this process always takes place at item level. That means, that a planned order is assigned to exactly one item in the sales order.

The special features of the make-to-order production which distinguish it from the purchase-to-order procurement and the third-party order processing are described here. The description is based on the process levels which differ from the standard ERP.

Sales Order

The processing of the make-to-order production takes place using the assignment of certain item categories and the corresponding schedule line categories during the creation of the sales order. During make-to-order production with AFS materials, you can use item categories JMT2 (valuated without using application component CO) and JMT3 (valuated with CO). The schedule line categories J4 and J6 are assigned to the item categories. In contrast to the above mentioned processes, no purchase order types are stored in the schedule line category in make-to-order production, because it is a production cycle that is controlled by MRP.

From AFS 5.0, entry of duplicate schedule lines is allowed in make-to-order processing with AFS materials, meaning that at item level the dimensions mentioned need not be unique.

Costing View

In make-to-order production, you can choose to produce with or without application component CO. If you want to produce without application component CO, choose item category JMT2. If you prefer an exact cost settlement of the sales order, you can include application component CO in the make-to-order process. For this you choose item category JMT3.

Combined Production Orders

You can group production orders with account assignments together to form combined production orders. All subsequent functions are possible, such as the posting of the goods issue.

Allocation Run

An allocation run is required for requirements and stock with account assignments. The allocation type used must be set, such that the stock with account assignment can also be selected.

Note

AFS Restrictions

If a production order exists you can only delete the item in the sales order with a reason for rejection.
