Availability Check Logic Versus Allocation Run Logic

The availability check in the AFS system checks at schedule line (SKU) level during the order entry if sufficient stock is available to fulfill the requirement on the requested delivery date. If the result is negative, it checks when a sufficient quantity of stock will once again be available and confirms this date as the new delivery date for the schedule line.

The availability check proceeds on the time line exclusively according to FIFO logic. The quantity available for a requirement is calculated from the warehouse stock and the planned incoming stock on the one hand, as well as from all the planned outgoing stock (posted sales orders, reservations, blocked stock, and so on) on the other hand.

The stock / requirements side is rechecked in the allocation run. While the requirements are assigned during the availability check on the time line to stock or incoming stock, the requirements will be sorted during the allocation run depending on your individual settings. Possible criteria here could be the customer number, delivery priority, document category, and so on. On the stock side, only stock that is customized in stock selection rule and falls within the ranges provided in the allocation rule for the ARun type will be considered.

This means that the assignment of stock to requirements during the allocation can be based on a logic, which deviates from the availability check logic.

Capacity of Rescheduling

By implementing rescheduling you have the possibility of adjusting delivery dates of schedule lines that cannot be kept or are not optimal to the current stock / requirements situation.
