Material Determination

Features

Using material determination in sales processing, you can manually or automatically replace (substitute) materials in sales documents. Material determination in sales processing has been enhanced at SKU level. This means that you can manually or automatically substitute single grid values of a material.

Material Determination: Determination Types

When you create a material determination master record, you can choose from different determination types.

Determination type	Function
A001 – entered material	During order processing the entered material (or grid value) is replaced by another material (or grid value).
J3A1 – Material substitution ATP	During order processing the entered material (or grid value) is replaced by another material (or grid value). This is done during the availability check.
J3AC – Customer material number	During order processing the customer-specific materials number is replaced by a material (grid value).

Master Records for Material Determination

The determination types have been enhanced so that you can also create material determination master records at grid value level. As well as replacing the product ordered by the customer by another product, you can also replace the originally requested grid value (for example, color gray – size 50) by another grid value (for example, color black – size 50). You can also enter several replacement dimensions in the master record. Depending on the determination type and the selected substitution reason, the material determination in the sales order is carried out manually or automatically.

Material Determination during Order Processing

Manual material determination: If there are several replacement dimensions for a material, you can choose a grid value from a dialog box.

Automatic material determination: The entered material or grid value is automatically replaced (according to the settings for the substitution reason).

Depending on the determination type and the determination master record, you can manually select an alternative plant, material, or grid value for the grid value of the material that is not available. You do this in the AFS availability overview. (see Availability Check)

Customer material number: You can enter the customer material number in the AFS ordering party view. The customer-specific material number is replaced by your own material number. Depending on the created material determination master record the grid value is found.

Order substitution indicator: You can manually switch off the material determination during the order processing or per customer (see Customer Master).

AFS Restriction

Product selection in the delivery is not supported for AFS materials.
