Background documentation Call of the FERT Generator in the Application Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Call of the FERT Generator from the Sales Order

You can directly call the FERT generator when creating or changing a sales order.

The system automatically calls the FERT generator as soon as you have entered a configurable material and carried out the characteristic valuation. At this point in the order processing the FERT generator creates a new finished product.

Note

If you have entered the same characteristic valuation previously, the system does not call the FERT generator as the generator has already created a finished product with the accordingly configured bill of material and routing. The system immediately offers this finished product. You can replace your configured material with this finished product.

Call of the FERT Generator from the AFS Application Menu

You can use the FERT generator to create finished products without having a concrete sales order.

This can be advantageous if you already know how a customer wants a material to be produced before the actual incoming order. If you create the finished products in advance, you can use them for the future sales order. Thus the actual sales order processing is much quicker.

To call the FERT generator from the AFS application menu, choose Sales/Distribution ® FERT Generator.

Necessary Entries for both Cases

You must enter a reference group so that the FERT generator knows which reference material to use as a template for creating the master data of the finished product.

You can enter an alphanumeric description for the new finished product. If you do not make an entry in the relevant field, the system assigns a number internally – if you have allowed the system to do so.

At this point you can create the new finished product in several languages. You can enter a separate description for each language and copy over the description from the reference material. Thus you can be sure that the finished material is available in the same languages as the reference material.
