Function documentation Manual Reservation Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This function transfers manual and automatic reservations data for AFS material. You need this function to maintain all the manual reservations created in SAP AFS to SAP SCM for supply network planning (SNP).

Integration

·        Reservations are integrated with production order, cost centers, assets, stocks, and sales orders.

·        Reservations can be created for production orders, sales orders cost centers, and assets based on the movement types.

For example:

¡        Movement type 231 for sales order

¡        Movement type 201 for cost center

·        Can perform goods issue or goods receipt based on the movement types used for reservations.

The other functions that are needed for this function to work are material master data, production orders, sales orders, cost centers assets, and stocks.

Prerequisites

·        You have checked that material master data exists in the both systems.

·        You have created and activated the integration model for the manual reservation.

·        You have set the integration of SAP AFS with SAP APO for initial and online data transfer.

Features

This function offers the following features:

·        Creates and transfers AFS reservation data to SAP SCM

·        Transfers the quantity based on the goods receipt (GR) or stock increase or goods issue (GI) or stock decrease for manual reservations and production orders from SAP AFS into SAP SCM.

·        Helps change and delete the manual reservation data from SAP SCM through SAP AFS.

Activities

Create the reservation based on the requirements and availabilty of materials or goods and the goods arriving on a particular date. For more information on creating reservations, see SAP Library (help.sap.com) and choose SAP for Industries ® SAP for Consumer Products ® SAP AFS 5.0 ® Materials Management ® Inventory Management ® Transfer Posting and Stock Transfer ® Creating Reservations.

The system allows for material requirements planning (MRP) in SAP AFS and SNP in the SAP SCM. It blocks the reserved materials for particular orders. Goods movement is not allowed for reserved quantity.

Example

Reservations are created to overcome the following problems:

·        When there is a shortage of materials for MRP planning

·        When there are orders for which materials have to be delivered on a particular date (for example, ordered quantity is 100 PCs and available quantity is 150 PCs. This means that, new orders for only 50 PCs must be considered. But you can even take orders for more then 50 PCs).

The figure below shows the manual reservation 152 for material MPANT with four items (having different grid values and quantities) in SAP AFS:

When it is transferred to SAP SCM, each item or stock keeping unit (SKU) is a separate location product as shown in the figure below:
