With help of the R/3 Standard function ‚work in process determination (WiP)‘ you can periodically determine and activate the existing stock of semi-finished products in production.

The determination of work in process for a production order is carried out for AFS orders analogous to the Standard R/3 System.

As in the Standard R/3 there are two procedures available for the WiP determination:

• Determination on basis of the actual costs

• Determination on basis of the planned costs

Via the results analysis key of the production order you can control which one of the variants you want to use. The results analysis key is defaulted via the order type (PP Customizing -> Master data).

When determining on actual costs basis, the system uses the actual costs of an production order for the WiP determination. Actual costs are caused by resource consumption (material withdrawal, activity allocation).

When determining on planned costs basis, the system selects the product costing exactly by valuation types. That means that per order item each costing that belongs to the respective SKU is selected and multiplied with the quantity that is confirmed for the item.
