Prepack and Assortment: Sales and Distribution Processing
Features
Order
If you enter a prepack or an assortment in the order processing, the system displays the material described by the BOM as the main item. The individual components are displayed as sub-items. After you have entered a BOM in a sales order, the system can carry out pricing, inventory management and delivery processing at the following levels:
The prepack processing is carried out at main item level, the assortment processing is carried out at component level.
You can find further information in the R/3 Standard Sales documentation.
Allocation Run
During the allocation run you can determine how assortments are taken into account if there is a stock shortage for a component. If, for example, there is a stock shortage of a component that belongs the assortment, you can reduce the allocated total quantity.

Assortment with 2 components (each component has a quantity of 10 pieces): A requirement of 20 pieces of the assortments result in a component requirement of 200 pieces each. If the warehouse stock of component 1 is less (for instance, only 180 pieces are in stock), the allocation run would allocate 18 sets, even if 200 pieces of component 2 are in stock.
During the allocation run you can also use a minimum quota for BOM components. In this case the allocation is only carried out if at least this quantity of the components is available.
In the allocation run prepacks are processed according to another logic. The prepack processing is carried out at main item level, and the stock situation is thus checked at header level during the allocation run.
You can find further information in the documentation Allocation Run.
Delivery
During the delivery processing, the handling of prepacks and assortments is easy compared to other AFS materials. Depending on the selected processing type of the BOM, picking is carried out at main item or sub-item level. The delivery group correlation is important here.
