Use
During the order processing, the system can automatically schedule when the necessary delivery activities such as picking, loading, and transporting need to be started so that the delivery date can be met.
Features
If you have activated delivery scheduling for sales document types in your system, the delivery scheduling will run during the order entry or order change immediately after the availability check.
This is also true if you execute rescheduling. First, the availability is checked for each requirements record. If stock or incoming stock is available, the availability check confirms the requirement for the requested delivery date, for a later time, or for the replenishment lead time.
Delivery scheduling immediately follows. First, the system schedules backwards on the time line starting from the confirmed delivery date. If the date on which transport preparations need to begin is already in the past, the system schedules forwards on the time line starting from the current date. The delivery date is then postponed to a later date than the confirmed delivery date.

During the order entry, a customer requirement of 100 blouses in size M could be confirmed for the requested delivery date, the 05.02.2001. In order to cover this requirement, the availability check used incoming stock on the 29.01.2001 in the form of a purchase order. The result of the delivery scheduling in this document was that the goods must be staged a total of three days prior to the delivery. The transport preparations must therefore be started on the 01.02.2001.
You find out that your vendor can deliver the purchase order no earlier than 05.02.2001.
At the beginning of January, you execute rescheduling for your material blouse. The requirement can now also be confirmed by the availability check for the requested delivery date. However, the result of the delivery scheduling is that the goods receipt for the purchase order will not even be posted by the date on which the transport preparations need to be started (01.02.2001). Consequently, the delivery date will be redetermined for the requirement. The beginning of the transport preparations is now the 05.02.2001, and the goods can be delivered three days later (since the preparations take three days). The system therefore confirms the 07.02.2001 as the new delivery date for the requirement.

The delivery scheduling can never determine a date that is in the past for the beginning of the transportation scheduling. If requirements records are processed during rescheduling whose delivery dates are confirmed for a date in the past, and if the incoming stock planned for this date has not yet arrived, these requirements will be reconfirmed for the current date or for a later date.
