Access Method L Printing
Printer jobs are sent to output devices linked with access method L using an operating system command. On Unix this is the either the LP or LPR command rule. The job status is queried from the system in the same way. These commands are sent from the printer spool server that the output device is assigned to. For this reason the commands of BS type depends on the printer spool server of the output device. ...
Minimum support package levels for Target System(s):
SAP NetWeaver 7.00 Support Package 14
SAP Web AS 6.40 Support Package 22
SAP Web AS 6.20 Support Package 64
The target systems must have at least one printer spool server with the same BS types as the printer spool server of the PAL printer in the central system.
The name of the PAL printer under which the printer of the operating system is known must be identical to the name that is used in the printer spool server of the target systems and in the printer spool server of the central system. In SPAD the Host Printer
field contains this name.
The command used to send the print request and query the job status must be the same in the target systems and in the central system and must be able to be executed there.
Caution
PAL can only ensure that the distribution of the command record of a PAL printer that uses access method L has been run correctly and that requirement number 2 has been fulfilled.
However PAL cannot check the requirements under 3 and 4. PAL can therefore not garantee that PAL printers work without errors in the target system, even if the distribution was successful.
