  Creating Planned Orders Using a Reference

Use

You can use this function in the detailed scheduling planning board to use an order as a reference for creating new planned orders.

Here, data such as the product, location, receipt and requirement quantity, start date, availability date, source of supply and characteristics from characteristics-dependent planning (CDP) and classes and characteristics from R/3 from configurable products is copied automatically from the reference order. In this way, you can create up to 99 orders in one step. These orders are then created and planned by the system according to the strategy profile you selected.

Features

  • With this function, you can use planned and production orders as references to create new planned orders.

  • When creating the order using a reference, the system first checks the validity of the date and quantity of the reference’s  source of supply . If the date or quantity is invalid, the system terminates the operation. In this case, you first have to create a new order and then use this order as the reference.

  • Generally speaking, when creating orders using a reference, the PP strategy profile is copied from the DS overall profile.

  • When creating an existing order, the system copies the mode settings you defined in the strategy profile in the Cross-Strategy Parameters . If you selected the setting Retain under Current Modes , the system schedules the newly created order in the same mode as the original order. If you chose the setting Select Any Mode, the system may also choose another resource to schedule the new order.

    The function is terminated if, for example, no more orders can be created and scheduled on a resource for capacity reasons.The system displays an information message on how many orders are to be created. For information on the newly created planned orders or on the planned orders that the system could not create, see the planning log . To access the planning log, choose Logs.

  • If dependent requirements are created when creating orders for products with the PP planning procedure, Cover Dependent Requirements Immediately , the system also creates the orders necessary to cover these requirements.

  • If you work with characteristics-dependent planning (CDP), the characteristics are transferred from the original order to the newly created orders. This also applies to classes and characteristics for configurable products from R/3.

  • If you create a planned order for products whose procurement planning requires a production planning run , the system automatically creates a planning file entryfor the new orders.

Please note the following constraints :

  • Characteristics of characteristics-dependent planning (CDP) and classes and characteristics from R/3 from configurable products are transferred from the template to the newly created planned orders automatically. Other characteristic types are not transferred to the newly created planned orders.

  • You can only create orders if the source of supply in the template is valid. If, for example, an invalid date or quantity exists, it is not possible to create an order using this template.

  • If you work with campaign planning , the campaign characteristics of the original order are not transferred to the newly created orders.

  • If an activity is deallocated in the original order, the system also creates all the activities in the new order as deallocated.

  • If an activity is fixed in the original order, this fixing is not transferred to the newly created order. That is, fixed dates are not relevant.

Activities

  1. In the detailed scheduling planning board, select an order and/or one or several operations or activities for an order.

    Make sure that you only select objects for exactly one order.

  2. In the menu, choose Start of the navigation path Function Next navigation step Order Next navigation step Create Using Reference End of the navigation path or select Create Order Using Reference in the context menu (right-hand mouse click).

    The system accesses the dialog box, Create Orders Using Reference [Order Category, Order Number].

    Note Note

    Note that data, such as the planning version, product, location, receipt/requirement quantity, start date, availability date and source of supply are proposed automatically by the system or are transferred from the original order. This data cannot be changed here. You can change the planning strategy with which the new orders are to be created. To do so, choose Strategy , if necessary.

  3. Enter the number of orders you want to create. (Here, you can enter a number between 1 and 99.)

  4. Choose .

    The system creates the new orders and schedules them according to the strategy profile you selected.
