Planning with Form-Fit-Function Classes In Capable-to-Match (CTM), you can use form-fit-function classes (FFF classes) for planning.
You have defined the supersession data in the master data for product interchangeability. That means that you have created an interchangeability group and have assigned it to the supply chain model you use for CTM planning.
You have selected
Use FFF Classes
or
Use Discontinuation and FFF Classes
in the CTM profile.
If advice codes are valid for the demand, they do not prohibit product substitution.
CTM considers advice codes if you transfer stock transport requisitions, stock transport orders, or maintenance orders with advice code information from SAP ECC Enterprise Extension Defense Forces & Public Security to SAP SCM.
By using FFF classes, CTM can use receipts and supplies from interchangeable products as a substitute to fulfill a demand that cannot be fulfilled by the receipts and supplies of the product entered. If CTM cannot fulfill the demand by using the interchangeable product either, it creates a demand for the interchangeable product that is defined as leading product.
Note
So that CTM can procure the leading product, you must include it in the master data selection.
CTM carries out a
search strategy
for each location product. That means CTM specifies the sequence in which CTM planning should consume receipts and supplies and create new orders. If you want CTM to take the FFF classes you defined into account, it tries to fulfill the demand with existing receipts and supplies of the substitute products. Not until after this does source determination for the leading product take place (see the
Example
section
).
The following example illustrates the search strategy used when CTM takes FFF classes into account.
You have defined an FFF subset with products A, B, and C, in which product C is the leading product. You use a search strategy with three supply categories in the CTM profile:
Sequence |
Supply Category |
|---|---|
1 |
Category 01 |
2 |
Category 02 |
3 |
*** (Source determination) |
4 |
Category 03 |
CTM tries to fulfill a demand for product B and proceeds with the search strategy as follows:
Sequence |
Supply Category |
System Response |
|---|---|---|
0 |
Category 00 |
Receipts and supplies for product B of standard category 00 |
1 |
Category 01 |
Consume receipts and supplies for product B of category 01 |
2 |
Category 02 |
Consume receipts and supplies for product B of category 02 |
3a |
*** |
Consume receipts and supplies for product A of standard category 00 as well as of category 01, 02, and 03 |
3b |
*** |
Consume receipts and supplies for product C of standard category 00 as well as of category 01 and 02 |
3c |
*** |
Carry out source determination for leading product C (no new product replacement using products A and B) |
4a |
Category 03 |
Consume receipts and supplies for product C of category 03 |
4b |
Category 03 |
Consume receipts and supplies for product B of category 03 |
