Accuracy of the ASN
You, the customer, can use this rating criterion to rate the performance of the supplier on their ability to accurately record data in the advanced shipping notification (ASN). To determine the supplier’s accuracy, SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC) compares the data in an ASN item to the purchase order (PO) item or scheduling agreement release (SA release) item that the ASN references. SAP SNC can determine the accuracy of the ASN item on the basis of three checks. You can activate one or more of the checks. The checks verify the following:
Is the product valid?
To determine the validity of the product, SAP SNC compares the product entered by the supplier with the product requested by the customer in the PO or SA release item.
Does the ship-to location of the supplier match the ship-to location of the customer?
To determine if the ship-to locations of the supplier and customer match, SAP SNC compares the ship-to location to which the supplier plans to delivers the goods to the ship-to location where the customer actually wanted the goods delivered.
Is the quantity correct?
To determine if the quantity is correct, SAP SNC compares the quantity entered by the supplier in the ASN item with the quantity requested by the customer in the PO or SA release item.
To use this rating criterion, you must activate the business function Supply Network Collaboration 2 (SCM_SNC_GEN_2
).
You have made the following settings in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration
under or on the SAP Easy Access
screen
under :
You have activated the checks for the ASN accuracy rating criterion. You activate the checks in the Make Global Settings
Customizing activity.
To determine the accuracy of the ASN based on quantity, you have made the following settings:
You have set up a quantity tolerance in the Define Quantity Tolerance
Customizing activity. The tolerance is valid for the quantities of the PO or SA release item.
You have set up a time window in the Define Time Window
Customizing activity. You set the time window for the request schedule lines (request SL) of the PO or SA release item.
You have made settings in the Make Global Settings
Customizing activity to determine to which request SL SAP SNC assigns quantities from the ASN item in the second assignment phase.
To score the supplier, SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) uses the formula number of accurate ASN items / total number of ASN items.
SAP SNC considers an ASN item accurate if its quantities match the quantities of the request SLs of the referenced PO item or SA release item and if they are within the defined time window. To determine the accuracy of an ASN item, SAP SNC runs two assignment phases that assign quantities from the ASN items to quantities from the request SLs. For more information, see Example.
The customer wants to determine the accuracy of the supplier’s ASNs based on quantity. The customer has set up a the following quantity tolerance and time window for the request SLs:
Quantity tolerance: -0% and + 50%
Time window: +/- 3 days
In the Make Global Settings
Customizing activity, the customer has also set the Assign ASN Quantity
field to Next ASN Item
. Table 1 shows the quantities of four request SLs from the customer’s PO or
SA release item as well as the quantities from several ASN items that the supplier has created to fulfill the customer’s request.

The figure Phase 1 shows the assignments that SAP SNC makes to determine the accuracy of the ASN. The black lines represent the assignment.

Phase 1
SAP SNC starts its first assignment phase by matching those request SL quantities that can be matched equally with the ASN items that are within the time window. In the figure Phase 1 an equal assignment is initially only possible with the request SL and ASN item dated 10.11.2010. To assign the quantities of the other request SLs to quantities of the ASN items, SAP SNC must split quantities in both the request SLs and the ASN items. In this example, SAP SNC has been able to find matches for most quantities. Nevertheless, after the first assignment phase has finished some quantities in the request SLs remain unfulfilled by ASN items (remaining quantities). Furthermore, one ASN item lies outside of the time window set up for the request SLs.
After the first assignment phase, SAP SNC uses its second assignment phase to try and match the remaining quantities from the request SLs. SAP SNC assigns the remaining request SL quantity to the next ASN item (shown using green arrows in figure Phase 2).
Note
Whether SAP SNC assign the remaining request SL quantity to the closest or the next ASN item is determined by your Customizing settings.
In this example, because the quantity of the next ASN item is not enough to fulfill the remaining request SL quantity, SAP SNC considers the ASN item as inaccurate. Lastly, SAP SNC categorizes the quantities of the ASN item that lie outside of the time window (circled in orange in figure Phase 2) as inaccurate.
