  • To be able to use replacement strategies in Service Parts Planning, deactivate the following standard validations in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product and Location Interchangeability Next navigation step Consistency Checks Next navigation step Maintain Validation End of the navigation path :

    • S_V3

    • S_V8

    • S_V18

    • S_V20

  • To be able to use the replacement strategies in Service Parts Planning , set the PPDS DeActivate indicator in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product and Location Interchangeability Next navigation step Application Settings Next navigation step General Settings End of the navigation path .

Service Parts Planning Customizing
  • You carry out the IMG activity Assign Replacement Types to Replacement Strategies in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization under Start of the navigation path Supply Chain Planning Next navigation step Service Parts Planning (SPP) Next navigation step Supersession End of the navigation path .For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG).

  • You define buffers and time periods in the IMG activity Make Settings for Calculating Supersession Times in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization under Start of the navigation path Supply Chain Planning Next navigation step Service Parts Planning (SPP) Next navigation step Supersession End of the navigation path .

  • You define the maximum horizon for determining the stock exhaustion warning date and, optionally, a DRP profile in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization under Start of the navigation path Supply Chain Planning Next navigation step Service Parts Planning (SPP) Next navigation step Supersession End of the navigation path in the IMG activity Define Service Profile for Supersession .If the system cannot calculate a stock exhaustion date within this horizon, it does not set a planning date for the successor product.

Planning Service Manager

You schedule the planning service “SPP: Supersession Service” (SPP_SUPERSESSION) in the Planning Service manager (PSM). For more information, see Use of the Planning Service Manager for Service Parts Planning .

Master Data

You create supersession chains on the SAP Easy Access screen by choosing Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Application-Specific Master Data Next navigation step Product and Location Interchangeability End of the navigation path .Note that the replacement chain is assigned to the active model. For more information, see Master Data for Product and Location Interchangeability .
