Working with Documents

The Working with Documents process is performed by portal users.

Once users have called up information, they can work with it. They can perform standard file operations and use Knowledge Management services, such as feedback and subscriptions. They can forward information to enable collaboration. By adding metadata, such as feedback and ratings, other users can more efficiently assess the benefit of this information at a later point in time.

Using the Process

This IT process is part of the following IT scenarios:

• Users have received information or called up documents.
• For writing activities: Documents are stored in repositories that allow write-permission.

The following IT process is incorporated in the Enterprise Portal (EP) usage type:

• Perform file operations (copy, move, delete, rename, download).

  The portal users perform standard file operations. The copy, move, or delete files, links, or folders. They can also download files.

• Use services (subscribe, give feedback, add to favorites, collaborate).

  The portal users use the various Knowledge Management services to work with documents.

Users have used services to add or change information and to perform content-related communication.
