Definition of the Discontinuation Period Start Date

Use

As the first step of the supersession service, you define the start date of the discontinuation period for the product to be replaced. Doing this triggers all following steps that the system must perform to plan supersession.

Features

You specify the start date of the discontinuation period for the item in the master data for product and location interchangeability under Valid From . You can select one of the following areas of application:

  • You can specify the date globally for the whole supersession chain. To do so, choose Cross-Location in the Location field.

  • You can specify the date at entry location level for each of the sub-BODs. To do so, choose a specific entry location in the Location field. If you specify the date at the entry location level, the system chooses this date as the valid date.

Special cases:
  • If you have chosen the replacement strategy many-to-one substitution (OR), you must specify the start date of the discontinuation period for each supersession chain.

  • If you have chosen the replacement strategy one-to-many substitution (OR) or one-to-one substitution with partial substitution, you must define the same discontinuation period start date for all items.
