 Sequence Rules

Use

Deployment uses sequence rules when rounding to shipment quantities. Deployment rounds the quantities that fair-share distribution has calculated. During rounding, the sequence of child locations that the system has calculated based on sequence rules significantly influences the results: Locations that come earlier in the sequence have better rounding results, for example more economical pack sizes.

Requirements

You have created a standard sequence of rules and assigned sequence rules to the individual priority tiers in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization , by choosing Start of the navigation path Supply Chain Planning Next navigation step Service Parts Planning (SPP) Next navigation step Deployment Next navigation step Define Priority Tiers and Sequence Rules End of the navigation path .

Features

If the distributable quantity is enough to cover all demand during the replenishment lead time, the system calculates a period for which it can only partially cover the demand. In this case, the system uses the standard sequence of sequence rules for the subsequent rounding to transport quantities.

If the deployment executes fair share distribution after applying priority tiers, it calculates a priority tier for which it can only partially cover the demand. In this case, deployment applies the sequence rule that you have assigned to this priority level in Customizing.

If you assigned more than one sequence rule, the system firstly applies the first sequence rule. If this rule does not enable the system to make a clear decision about the sequence of the locations, the system then considers the second rule for those locations about which it could not make a clear decision, and so on. If you have defined the first rule as, for example, net demand per day, and two child locations have the same net demand per day, the system decides according to the second rule which of the two locations it should favor during rounding.
