Period Profile
Definition
A set of information that defines the time horizon for grouping the component requirements. It involves the following entries:
Which time units are used
How many periods of the individual time units are used
The sequence in which the periods with different time units appear in the table.
Use
You use a period profile to define which periods (buckets) are to be used for grouping the component requirements that the matrix determines. The system groups the dependent requirements for those components that you set for grouping in the material/product masters.
This has the advantage that the system does not have to generate a procurement element for each individual dependent requirement. It is only necessary to generate one procurement element for all dependent requirements that fall within a certain period. This considerably reduces the volume of data.
