 Using the SCM Queue Manager

Use

With the SCM Queue Manager, you can check outbound queues in your own or in a connected system and react to errors if necessary. The advantage with regards to the qRFC Monitor lies in a significantly higher degree of user friendliness.

Start the SCM Queue Manager

  1. Call up the SCM Queue Manager via the area menu Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step APO Administration Next navigation step Integration Next navigation step Monitor Next navigation step SCM Queue Manager End of the navigation path or using the transaction /SAPAPO/CQ (program /SAPAPO/RCIFQUEUECTRL).

You reach the screenSCM Queue Manager.

  2. In the screen sectionSystems, you specify in which systems the check is to take place. When you do not make an entry underSystems your own system and all systems entered in the table /SAPAPO/SYSDIR will be selected as default.

  3. If you set the indicator Expand Nodes, all selected systems will be directly analyzed and will be displayed expanded on the subsequent results screen.

  4. If you set the indicator Only Display Locked Queues, only queues that are blocked or contain errors will be displayed on the results screen.

    Note Note

If you have not set the Expand Nodes indicator, a system will only be analyzed when you choose it in the results screen. This can lead to a significant improvement in the initialization of the results screen.

If you set the indicator Only Display Locked Queues, this leads to a significant increase in performance on the following results screen.

    End of the note.
  5. In the Object Type group you can choose the object types that are to be checked. You can choose the following object types:

    SAP APO

    SAP R/3

  6. Start the check by selecting Execute (F8)

  7. The SCM Queue Manager results screen appears.

Evaluating the Results of the SCM Queue Manager

The results screen consists of a navigation window with a tree structure (left window) and a main window. In the tree structure, the systems that have been checked are represented as root nodes and the individual object types as branches.

  1. Expand the root nodes by clicking on the triangle by the name of the node.

  2. The object types of the selected system are displayed. A symbol tells you the queue status of the individual objects:

    No queues with errors

    Queues are recorded

    Queues manually stopped

    Queues with errors

    Queues are being processed

Queue is waiting for another queue to be processed

  3. You can:

    • Display in the main window all queues with errors for a system by double-clicking on the system name.

    • Display in the main window all object types with errors for a system by double-clicking on the object type.

    • Open the qRFC Monitor by right-clicking on the system name.

    • Call up the following functions by right-clicking on the object type (these functions can also be activated using pushbuttons in the main window):

      • Display = corresponds to a double-click on one of the two elements (see above)

      • Update = updates the view in the main window

        Note Note

Note, there are two different pushbuttons for an update:

Updates the systems concerned, object types or individual queues

        Updates all systems

        End of the note.
    • Go to SMQ1 = opens the qRFC Monitor

      Note Note

Depending on whether you have marked a system, an object or an entry for a queue with errors in the main window, calling up the qRFC monitor leads to different listings of queues with errors.

Unqualified queue name. For example, "CF* (for the system marked)

Partially qualified queue name. For example, "CFEP*" (for the object type marked)

Fully qualified queue name. For example, "CFEP4711" (for a marked entry in the main window)

      End of the note.
    • Activate queue(s) = standard function of the qRFC monitor

    • Block queue(s) = standard function of the qRFC monitor

    • Unblock queue(s) = standard function of the qRFC monitor

    • Delete queue(s) = standard function of the qRFC monitor

The queues with errors that you have selected are displayed in the main window (depending on the selection of all queues per system or per object type). For this, the following information is shown:

  • Queue name = name of the relevant queue

  • Destination = destination system of the queue

  • Error text = description of the queue status

  • User = person responsible for the queue

  • Function module = function module concerned

  • Date/time = time of the queue error

  • Waiting = queue is dependent on other queues

By double-clicking on the destination column you open the transaction SM59. Here, you can edit the settings for the connection to the relevant system.
