Creating a Line Balance There is a separate iPPE object for line balances.
You can create as many line balance objects as you wish for a line or line network, to simulate possible line assignments, for example. When you have calculated a suitable line balance, you can activate it for a specific validity period.
You have already created the line or line network in the system, for which you want to create the line balance.
In iPPE Customizing, you must set the
Explosion
indicator for the line balances to be displayed for the selected user profile under
Environment
.
The iPPE line balance object is transferred to APO together with the line structure using the APO Core Interface.
You have the following options when creating a line balance:
If you have linked several lines to a line network, you can create a line balance for the complete line network and balance the lines in the network.
If you have linked several lines to a line network, you can also create a line balance for each individual line in the line network. If you create a line balance for each line, you must set the
Do Not Consider Line Balances During Explosion
indicator for the line network on the
Basic Data
tab page. This ensures that the system uses the line balance from the lower hierarchy level of the line network when the iPPE data is exploded during production planning in APO.
Creating line balances for the lines in a line network has the following advantages:
You can balance the individual lines independently. This is particularly advantageous for complex line networks because it allows different people to edit the different line balances separately.
If you use one line in different line networks, you must create a separate line balance for each line. The lines in a line network cannot be balanced correctly when one line is used in several line networks, which means each line must be considered individually in this case.
If you work only with individual lines, create the line balance for the individual lines.
