Managing Multiple Versions of a ModelLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can maintain more than one version of a model by using the Start of the navigation path Model Next navigation step Save New Version End of the navigation pathoption. This enables you to make changes to an open model and save both versions, before and after the changes. Subsequently, you can recall other versions of an open model using the Start of the navigation path Model Next navigation step Manage Model Versions End of the navigation pathoption.

Procedure

To create a new model version:

  1. With the original model open in Storyboard, choose Start of the navigation path Model Next navigation step Save New Version End of the navigation path. The Save New Version dialog box is displayed.

  2. In the Description field, type text that describes the changes made to the model when it was opened. This helps you subsequently recall the differences of each version.

    When you open the Model Browser ( Start of the navigation path Model Next navigation step Manage Models End of the navigation path), a number is displayed after the model in parentheses, indicating the number of versions that have been saved of the model. When you open the model, the latest version (highest number) is displayed.

To revert to a previous version of a model:

  1. Open the model.

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Model Next navigation step Manage Model Versions End of the navigation path. The Select Model Version dialog box is displayed, listing each version of the model, along with its description, its creation date and the user who created it.

  3. Choose the version to which you want to revert by selecting the checkbox in the row of that version.

  4. Click Revert . The open version is closed and the selected version is opened in Storyboard, becoming the most recent model version.
