Different time spans that are defined between certain planning times in service parts planning (SPP).

Structure

In SPP, there are several component lead times and a compound procurement lead time, as well as a total procurement lead time.

Total Procurement Lead Time

The total procurement lead time is the manually corrected sum of the relevant compound lead times. The distribution requirements planning (DRP) and the deployment procurement lead times both include the whole procurement lead time of DRP and of deployment between two locations. This means that the total procurement lead time is the time needed to transport goods from one location to another.

When the system uses the whole lead time for DRP, deployment, and inventory planning, and calculates how long a stock transfer takes from one location in your BOD to another location in your BOD. It also considers the goods receipt processing time. The system considers the goods receipt processing time (depending on the time at which the delivery is created) to determine when the product is actually available. The system calculates this availability date based on the inbound delivery date and the goods receipt processing time:

  • Demand date or shipping date and inbound delivery date

    To determine the inbound delivery date based on the demand date or shipping date, or to determine the demand data or shipping date based on the inbound delivery data, the system uses the whole procurement lead time less the goods receipt processing time.

  • Inbound delivery date and availability date

    To determine the availability date based on the inbound delivery date, or to determine the inbound delivery date based on the availability date, the system uses the goods receipt processing time.

You can enter this time for DRP on the SAP Easy Access screen under Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Transportation Lane Next navigation step Transportation Lane End of the navigation path under Means of Transport in the Proc.Ld Time (Pull) and Proc.Ld Time (Push) fields. You can enter this time for deployment in the St. Trfr Time Push (Stock Transfer Time: Push) and the StTfrf Time (Pull) (Stock Transfer Time: Pull) fields.

In Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization, you can choose whether the system is to carry out DRP and deployment based on the component lead times or based on the total procurement lead time under Start of the navigation path Service Parts Planning (SPP) Next navigation step Planning Next navigation step Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) Next navigation step Make General Settings for DRP End of the navigation path.

Component Lead Time
  • Time Between Two Planning Runs

    This component lead time is the time between two DRP runs or between two deployment planning runs. You can enter these times on location product level on the SAP Easy Access menu under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product Next navigation step Product End of the navigation path on the SPP DRP tab page in the Time Betw. DRP Runs field, or on the SPP Deployment tab page in the Time Between (Deployment) field.

  • Plan Approval and Review Time for DRP

    This component lead time starts after the DRP planning run and ends with scheduling agreement releases, purchase requisitions, or purchase orders being sent to the supplier. You can specify the plan approval and review time in the location product master data on the SPP DRP tab page in the Review Time (DRP) field.

  • Plan Approval and Review Time for Deployment

    This component lead time starts after the deployment planning run and ends with the release of stock transport orders. You can specify the plan approval and review time in the location product master data on the SPP Deployment tab page in the Review Time (Depl.) field.

  • Communication Duration

    This component lead time begins after the plan approval and review time, and ends when the supplier receives the scheduling agreement releases, purchase requisitions, or purchase orders. You can enter the communication duration under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Transportation Lane Next navigation step Transportation Lane End of the navigation path in the header data under Transportation Planner in the Communication Duration field.

  • Goods Issue Processing Time

    This component lead time begins as soon as the outbound delivery order is created, and ends with the start of transportation. You can enter the goods issue processing time on location product level under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product Next navigation step Product End of the navigation path on the GR/GI tab page under Processing Time in Days in the GI Processing Time field.

  • Planned Delivery Time

    This component lead time is comprised of the production at the supplier, the goods issue at the supplier, and the transportation to the distribution center. You can specify the planned delivery time in the procurement relationship master data and in the location product master data on the Procurement tab page. The system first checks whether you have specified the planned delivery time in the procurement relationship master data. In this case, you can see the specified planned delivery time in the transportation lane master data under Product-Specific Transportation Lane. The system only considers your entry in the location product master data if you have not specified a planned delivery time in the procurement relationship master data.

  • Transportation Time

    This component lead time begins with the end of the goods issue processing time or with the end of the throughput time, and ends with the good receipt. You can enter the transportation duration under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Transportation Lane Next navigation step Transportation Lane End of the navigation path under Means of Transport in the Trsp. Dur. parameter.

  • Throughput Time

    This component lead time begins at the end of the transportation duration, and ends when the next transportation begins. If processing by the contract packager or push deployment processing is necessary, the throughput time includes this additional time expenditure. You can enter throughput time on location product level under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product Next navigation step Product End of the navigation path on the SPP DRP tab page in the Throughput Time field.

  • Synchronization of Start of Goods Receipt

    This component lead time is always zero. It is used to ensure that the planned start of the goods receipt falls at a time that is possible according to the calendar for synchronizing the start of goods receipts that you specified in the product-specific transportation lane master data from the supplier to your entry location.

  • Goods Receipt Processing Time

    This component lead time is the goods receipt time including the putaway. It begins at the end of transportation and ends when the goods are in the storage bin. You can enter the goods receipt processing time on location product level under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product Next navigation step Product End of the navigation path on the GR/GI tab page under Processing Time in Days in the Goods Receipt Time field.

  • Freeze Period

    This component lead time represents a part of the freeze horizon. You can manually correct this period by a certain number of days in the header data of the transportation lane master data.

  • Synchronization with the goods issue calendar of the supplier

    This component lead time is always zero. It is used for synchronization with the calendar of the supplier.

    Note Note

    If your supplier only delivers on certain days, then these days must be entered into the supplier's shipping calendar as follows:

    00:00:00 hrs to 23:59:59 hrs.

    If you enter to 24:00:00 hrs the system changes the time to 00:00:00 hrs on the following day.

  • Fastest Route

    This component lead time is used in route determination.

  • Cheapest Route

    This component lead time is used in route determination. For more information, see Route Determination in Service Parts Planning.

Compound or Calculated Procurement Lead Time

The planning service calculates the compound or calculated procurement lead time for the economic order quantity (EOQ) and safety stock (SFT) using component lead times. As opposed to the total procurement lead time, the compound procurement lead time is calculated by the system and is the sum of the relevant component lead times.
