Using Transport Load OptimizationComplete the following steps to use the transport load optimization (TLO):
Configure TLO
In Customizing for SAP F&R, in the Customizing activity Maintain Transport Load Optimization Profiles
, make the following settings:
Define the importance of the optimization dimensions (for example, define the importance of ordering in complete pallets).
Define if and under which conditions transportation units should be dropped and how you want the system to react if they cannot be dropped.
Choose a runtime behavior for TLO.
Maintain TLO master data in the Restriction Profile
In the Restriction Profile, use the settings in the Transport Load Optimization
screen area to maintain the master data for TLO. Define the transportation
unit's specific physical characteristics, such as the maximum loading weight, and define the minimum fill thresholds that must be met by the last consolidated transportation unit. During transport load optimization, the system considers the settings you have made when determining the assignment of order
quantities per location product to one or more transportation unit. For more information, see the documentation for Restriction Profiles
Assign Restriction Profile to the transportation lanes for subranges
Assign your Restriction Profile to the transportation lanes for subranges. To do this, choose in the SAP Easy Access Menu.
During the FRP run, the system automatically performs the transport load optimization if you have set up TLO as described above.
Check results in Replenishment Workbench
After the transport load optimization has taken place, you can check the results in the Replenishment Workbench. On order proposal item level, the value in the T. Unit
(Transportation
Unit
) field indicates the assignment of individual order proposal items to transportation units. If a location product is assigned to several transportation units (that is, the entire quantity will not be delivered together but is distributed to several transportation units), this is represented
by the Multiple TU Assignments
icon on the item screen. If TLO has not taken place, all values are zero.
You can change assignments either in the order proposal item line or in a separate dialog box that also provides you with additional information, such as the gross weight and quantities in the pallet unit of measure.
Send order proposal to SAP Retail system
Order proposals that are optimized with TLO can be transferred to the SAP Retail system in the same way as non-optimized order proposals. If the split indicator on order proposal header level is active, the following splits occur:
The purchase orders in SAP Retail are split according to the assignments of order proposal items to transportation units. In SAP F&R, however, a split on order proposal level does not take place.
In SAP F&R, order proposal items that are assigned to more than one TU are split within the order proposal itself, meaning that in SAP Retail individual order proposal items, along with their quantities, are assigned to exactly one TU.
