Product Workbench
Using this application, and starting with the location products that exist in SAP F&R, you can obtain an overview of the assortment for which you are responsible as the replenishment planner. You can create new order proposal items (OPIs) manually, manually replenishing location products that the system did not order automatically, for example, due to the following reasons:
Because manual replenishment is defined for the location products
Because the location products have to be ordered outside of the regular order cycle (depending on your Customizing settings)
Because an error occurred that caused automatic replenishment to fail
The system highlights location products for which a critical situation has occurred, such as an understock.
The Product Workbench (PWB) combines functions of both the Replenishment Workbench (RWB) and Cause Determination. The PWB's product-specific view of your assortment enables product-related replenishment, in contrast to the location-related approach used in the RWB. You can use all location products in the PWB, without having to create an OPI previously in the RWB. You can navigate from the PWB to the RWB and to Cause Determination, as well as display time series in the Product Workbench. You can create, save, and activate planning data in the time series. SAP F&R can use this planning data in forecasting.
You can create multiple selection variants for the selection of location products, as well as use the numerous configuration options for displaying the selected data in the navigation tree and in the views and subscreens of the PWB. For more information, see
The PWB automatically assumes the exception subscription
that you configured within the RWB or the Exception Workbench (EWB).
Note
If you have not selected the types of exceptions your are responsible for under Exception Subscription
, you cannot see any exceptions in the PWB, and the system flags the exception subscription with a red symbol; otherwise a green symbol appears.
When you change data in a subscreen of the PWB, the dependent data in the other subscreens is updated automatically (just like in the RWB). This is done immediately, even if you have not saved the data yet.
Example
If you change the order proposal quantity, the order unit, or the delivery date in the Selected Location Products
or Order Proposals for Location Product
screens, for example, the system automatically updates the Time Series for Location Product
screen.
The PWB uses the same authorization checks for the user's change activities (create, change, and delete OPIs, as well as confirm exceptions) – /FRE/AREA
, /FRE/OP_H
and /FRE/PLN
– as the RWB.
You can select location products by numerous criteria (such as critical
location products) and maintain or display data for the determined location products. For more information, see
You can create a new OPI for a selected location product, either in an existing OP or a new OP. Here you can also specify the order proposal quantity, the order unit, and the supply source for a location product (among other values). For more information, see Creating Order Proposal Items (PWB).
You can display time series, restrictions, and exceptions in separate subscreens. These screens are identical in all workbenches in order proposal management. For more information, see General Screens in Order Proposal Management.
You can use many of the same applications, logs, and functions that are available in the Replenishment Workbench, including:
Display of master data
Display of demand influencing factors (DIFs)
Display of rounding information
Display of calculation details
Display of contract data
Display of product substitution data
Display of consignment information
Calculation of range of coverage
Change the source of supply
Release of order proposal items
For more information, see General Functions in the OPM Workbenches.
You can use additional functions, such as creating and maintaining notes for location products.
