Customizing the Configuration of a Monitor

Use

You can use the J2EE Engine Monitoring service to modify the configuration properties of a selected monitored unit.

Procedure

Start the J2EE Engine Visual Administrator.
Choose Server/Dispatcher → Services → Monitoring → Runtime tab and browse the tree to the desired monitor.

Configuration option from the right-hand pane.

The Monitor Configuration dialog appears.

Modify the general configuration	Choose the General tab. Choose the Edit option. For all configuration groups you can change: The description text - use the Description field The react on resource failure option, that is, how the J2EE Engine monitor MBean reacts in case the particular resource MBean disappears (is unregistered for example). For the polled-by-monitor configuration groups you can also change the period through which the monitored data is retrieved from the monitored resource.
Modify the performance configuration (only available if a performance monitor is selected)	Choose the Performance tab. Choose the Edit option. Use the fields to change the threshold values for each color.
Modify states (only available if a state monitor is selected)	Choose the States tab. A table is displayed with the states defined in the monitor-configuration.xml, through which the color of the monitor icon is changed. Choose the Edit option. The table is now editable and you can modify the existing states in the cells directly. If you want to add more states and there are no free cells left in the existing table, use the Add states option to add a new empty row.

In addition, a Restore option is available, with which you can restore the default configuration of a monitor directly from the XML configuration file.
