The table below describes the icons and menu options that are available in the Log Viewer UI.

Note

Only icons are available in the Integrated Log Viewer UI. Both icons and menu options are available in the Standalone Log Viewer UI.

Log Viewer Icons and Menu Options

Icon Menu Path Description

 Configuration

File → Configuration

Allows you to configure the connection to the Log Viewer server.

 Column Customize

Tools → Column Customize

Allows you to customize the columns for the log records that are displayed in the pane on the right.

 Refresh overview of logs

View → Refresh overview of logs

Refreshes the overview of the logs in the pane on the left.

 Refresh currently displayed log/Get the latest logs

View → Display currently displayed log

Refreshes a log that is displayed in the pane on the right.

 View Logs as Tree/View Logs as Table

View → View Logs As Table/View Logs As Tree

Toggles between table and tree overview of logs in the pane on the left.

 Save to file

File → Save to file

Allows you to save list and text formatted log files to a comma separated value (CSV) file.

 Add a file

File → Add a file

Allows you to register a log file on the Log Viewer server you have selected.

 Add Files from LogDirectory

File → Add Files from LogDirectory

Allows you to register the log files for which there is information in the LogDirectory XML files.

 Turn off Sorting

View → Turn off Sorting

Turns off the log record sorting mode.

 No errors while reading the logs

View → View errors while reading log

Indicates that no errors have occurred while reading the logs.

 Total errors = <xx> New errors = <xx> while reading log(s)

View → View errors while reading log

Allows you to view the errors that have occurred while reading the logs.

 Copy all data to clipboard

This icon is available in the Log Viewer Logrecord Detail dialog box. Copies the log record details to clipboard.

 Search results

This icon is available on an undocked log record screen. Shows and hides search results.

 Dock

This icon is available on an undocked log record screen. Docks the log records.

 Search

Searches for log records that meet the criteria you have specified.

Goes to the first log record in the pane on the right.

Scrolls up one page in the pane on the right.

Goes up to the next log record in the pane on the right.

Goes down to the next log record in the pane on the right.

Scrolls down one page in the pane on the right.

Goes to the last log record in the pane on the right.

 Exclude in Current Log

Applies a filter and excludes the filter criteria you have specified in the currently open log file.

 Exclude Globally

Applies a filter and excludes the filter criteria you have specified in all currently open log files and log files that are opened subsequently.

 Include in Current Log

Applies a filter and includes the filter criteria you have specified in the currently open log file.

 Include Globally

Applies a filter and includes the filter criteria you have specified in all currently open log files and log files that are opened subsequently.

File → Properties

Displays the properties of a log file you have selected in the pane on the left.

File → Exit

Exits the Log Viewer.

Edit → OSSCopy

Allows you to copy and paste the log record details to SAP GUI without formatting problems.

View → Hide empty logs/Show empty logs

Hides and shows the empty logs in the pane on the left

Window → Log Tree

This is a usability feature. Toggles between the overview of logs pane on the left and the log record view pane on the right.

Window → Log Message

This is a usability feature. Toggles between the log record view pane on the right and the overview of logs pane on the left.

Tools → Look and Feel

Allows you to change the look and feel of the Log Viewer.

Help → About

Displays details about the Log Viewer.

Log Viewer Icons Describing Log File State

Icon Description

The log file has been found but it is empty.

The log file has been found but has not been viewed.

The log file is currently open.

The log file has been viewed.

 (gray)

The log file cannot be found.

 (red)

If you refresh the overview of logs and try to open a file that could not be found (see above), and if it still cannot be found, the icon changes from gray to red.
