Customizing
Purpose
In the IT process Customizing you make different system settings to control the archiving process. The settings are made in archiving customizing, which you can reach via the Customizing push button from within Archive Administration. It is divided into Basis and Cross-Archiving-Object Customizing, entering of Routing Rules and Conditions (optional) and Archiving-Object-Specific Customizing.
Use of the Process
This IT process is part of the following IT scenario:
IT Scenario |
Scenario Variant |
Prerequisites
You have determined which data should be archived and have identified the corresponding archiving objects.
Process Flow
1. Making the Settings in Basis and Cross-Archiving-Object Customizing
In Basis Customizing you determine the file name and path under which the archive files are to be generated (ADK-based archiving). File names and paths can be client specific (transaction FILE) or cross-client (transaction SF01).
For XML-based archiving you must configure the home paths and the XML Data Archiving Service used.
The settings you make in Cross-Archiving-Object Customizing apply to all archiving objects. This includes settings for the interruption of the write phase and for determining the server group for background processing.
2. Entering Routing Rules and Conditions (optional)
With this function you set up rules and conditions for routing archive files into specific content repositories. A content repository can be determined on the level of organizational unit (for example company code) or time-based criteria (such as fiscal or business year).
3. Making Settings in Archiving-Object-Specific Customizing
The settings you make in Archiving-Object-Specific Customizing apply only to the archiving object you specify. Here you determine, for example, the size of an archive file, whether or not the delete program should run in the test or production mode, or if storage (ADK-based archiving) should take place before or after the delete phase. The Archive Routing function is used to set up rules and conditions for segregating archived data into different content repositories.
Result
You have made the different system settings that are necessary for the archiving of data and are now ready to start archiving.
