Rules-Based ATP Check at Component Level

When the rules-based ATP check is used, there is a further option for procuring the component required. Depending on your settings, the system substitutes the required component or the location to check if the product (or another product) is available there. If the product is not available, the system can trigger a multilevel ATP check.

Note Note

Note that Capable-To-Promise (CTP)should not be set in the check mode within the multilevel ATP check, when production is called for a component via the location determination activity or the check instructions. Combinations of CTP and multilevel ATP checks are not supported.

End of the note.

The following options exist for triggering a multilevel ATP check within rules-based ATP:

  • Product substitutions

If a multilevel ATP check should be carried out for a product substitution, the multilevel ATP check should be set in the check mode of the location-specific product master of the finished product/component. The check instructions must allow for production. For more information, see Controlling the ATP Check for Components .

  • Location determinations

If the multilevel ATP check should be triggered for the product in a location determination, then in the location determination activity, production and, if necessary, the check mode (that allows a multilevel ATP check) should be set. For more information see Creating Location Determination Activities and Producing Location Determination Activities .

Determining the control of the rules-based ATP check

Determining the control for the rules-based ATP check of a component only differs slightly from determining the control for the rules-based ATP check of a finished product.

The SD document, for whose material an ATP check is triggered and a rules-based ATP check is carried out in SAP APO, transfers a business transaction to SAP APO that leads to determination of a rule strategy. For more information see Execution of Rule Determination and Activation Parameters for Rule Strategies and Rule Strategy Sequence .

If a rules-based ATP check should be carried out for the component, the system must use the information in SAP APO. There are two options:

  • The system uses the business transaction of the SD document for the finished product.

The rule control for the rules-based ATP check at component level does not differ from rule control for the rules-based ATP check at finished product level.

  • The system uses a specific business transaction for the components.

You define this business transaction for the rules-based ATP check at component level in Customizing for the Start of the navigation path SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO)viaGlobal Available-to-Promise (Global ATP Check) Next navigation step Rules-Based Availability Check Next navigation step Create Business Transaction for Multilevel ATP Check End of the navigation path .

Result of rules-based ATP check at component level

Since the components are not transferred to SAP R/3 within a multilevel ATP check, no subitems are generated in the sales order when the result of the rules-based ATP check is transferred.

When the ATP tree structure is converted, stock transport requisitions are generated for location determinations in PP/DS.
