Bucket-Oriented Capacity Check and Detailed Scheduling You can carry out the following planning steps when using the bucket-oriented capacity check in the CTP process for each receipt element that was created for covering a sales order.
Bucket-Oriented Capacity Check for CTP Check
In the first planning step, the system carries out a capacity check during the CTP check on the bucket capacity, and reserves the bucket capacity necessary for the capacity requirement. The operations of the order are scheduled infinitely on the time-continuous capacity to determine the completion date.
The aim of the bucket-oriented capacity check in the CTP check is the determination of a binding delivery date for a sales order, taking into account constraints such as the available capacity and the desired date.
This guarantees increased response times and capacity load utilization when working online.
Detailed Scheduling Before Transferring Orders to Production
The plan generated on the basis of the bucket-oriented capacity check is not feasible from a production point of view because the operations are scheduled infinitely. Therefore, detailed scheduling is carried out in a second step in order to generate a feasible production plan. Here, planned orders are finitely scheduled on a time-continuous basis before they are released to production. The orders are then put into a feasible and cost-efficient sequence.
The aim of detailed scheduling is the generation of a feasible production plan, taking into account all relevant constraints such as the delivery date, setup time and cost, and lead time.
In contrast to the first step, detailed scheduling uses complex algorithms and larger data volumes are processed; therefore, the second step is suitable for background processing.
