Defining Line Resource Data Relevant for Scheduling

Usage

The line resource determines the available capacity and the rates used for scheduling. When transferring the iPPE, only the description of the line resource is transferred. Therefore, you have to complete the data relevant for scheduling.

Features

Available capacity

Two possibilities exist for defining the available capacity of a line resource:

You can define a standard available capacity.

In the time-continuous capacity tab page, you can define the operating time of the line resource for a one-shift operation.

You can define an active capacity variant.

If the line resource is in a multi-shift operation, you define the shifts, breaks and rate of capacity utilization using the capacity variant .

You can also make changes to the capacity profile:

The system uses the information in the standard available capacity or in the active capacity variant to create a capacity profile which you can access using the capacity profile function key. In this list, the operating times, breaks, rate of capacity utilization, and so on, are displayed and can be changed manually.

Rates

Base rate

You enter the base rate in the Time-Continuous Capacity tab page. This rate is always used if you have not maintained a rate model in the capacity variant.

Production rate

In addition to the base rate, you can also define another rate for certain periods in the active capacity variant in the rate model. For example, you can define that, for a specific day or for a particular week, the system is to use the production rate you defined in the rate model instead of the base rate.

Activities

To create an active capacity variant, proceed as follows:

You create the definitions required for the line resource:

Breaks using the break pattern

Shift factors (specification of the rate of capacity utilization for a specific period)

Shifts with specification of the corresponding start and finish times, break pattern and shift factors

Shift program with specification of the shifts and the definition of how they are to be distributed over the week

Rate model (specification of the production rate valid for certain periods

You define a capacity variant with specification of a period of validity. See also: Capacity Variants

You create the available capacity in the capacity variant. Here, you assign a time interval, a shift program and the rate model, if necessary.

You enter the capacity variant in the Act.Variant field in the General Data tab page. This validates the variant of the available capacity you created.
