Deactivation of Dynamic Pegging You can deactivate dynamic pegging for a location product. If you deactivate dynamic pegging:
The system does not perform any dynamic pegging for the location product
There are no dynamic pegging relationships between requirement and stock or receipt elements for the location product
It may make sense to work without dynamic pegging in the following cases:
You are planning interactively in the product view with large data quantities, and want to improve performance.
You want to improve performance for
Capable-to-Match
planning (CTM planning).
You have performed CTM planning that has created fixed pegging relationships between requirements and stocks or receipts. You then want to display the pegging structure for an order in the order processing view. In order that the system only displays the pegging structure with fixed pegging relationships, you have to deactivate dynamic pegging.
All applications that perform dynamic pegging and can evaluate dynamic pegging relationships are affected by the deactivation of dynamic pegging. For example:
Creation and intepretation of alerts
If neither dynamic pegging relationships nor fixed pegging relationships exist, the system does not create any meaningful quantity alerts or date/time alerts:
Quantity alerts
As the dynamic pegging relationships are missing, all requirements elements have a shortage, and all stock or receipt elements represent surpluses. Therefore, with the relevant alert settings, the system creates quantity alerts for all elements, even if sufficient timely receipts were created for all requirements through a previous planning run, for example. The quantity alerts are, therefore, not meaningful. If necessary, select the alert settings in such a way that the system does not display any quantity alerts.
Date/time alerts
The system cannot create date/time alerts, because the analysis of date/time problems (for availability dates/times that are too early or too late) is only possible based on pegging relationships.
For more information, see Monitoring PP/DS Alerts .
Detailed Scheduling
If no dynamic pegging relationships exist, the system cannot consider any dynamic pegging relationships in Detailed Scheduling either. As a result, the time relationships between the orders on various production levels are lost in Detailed Scheduling; in scheduling or rescheduling, the system determines the dates/times of an order, irrespective of the dependent orders. For more information, see Considering Pegging Relationships
Optimization
Optimization can only optimize delays or storage costs for a location product based on dynamic pegging relationships. If no dynamic pegging relationships exist, it is not possible to optimize storage costs or delays. For more information, see Optimization Run and Process Pegging Relationships .
PP/DS heuristics
Some algorithms for PP standard heuristics work on the basis of dynamic pegging relationships. Without dynamic pegging relationships, therefore, the heuristics cannot fulfill their function or if so, only in a limited way. Under Dynamic Pegging , you will find a list of heuristics that evaluate pegging relationships.
If you want to deactivate dynamic pegging, you can do this in the location product master on the
Demand
tab page, under
Pegging,
by selecting the
Deactivate Dynamic Pegging
indicator.
It is only when you reactivate dynamic pegging that the affected applications can perform dynamic pegging again and evaluate the pegging relationships accordingly.
