Defining the PP/DS Horizon
In make-to-stock production, the PP/DS horizon is used to separate PP/DS from SNP. In PP/DS, no planned orders or purchase requisitions may be created for make-to-stock production that lie outside the PP/DS horizon.
The CTP check is based on the fact that planned orders and purchase requisitions are created for products that are not available in sufficient quantities. For make-to-order production, the CTP check cannot be executed outside the PP/DS horizon. Therefore, make sure that the PP/DS horizon is long enough.
Note
If you use CTP with make-to-order production, you do not have to specify a PP/DS horizon.
Activities
You create the PP/DS horizon for the finished product in the location product master or in the planning version.
Note
The PP/DS Horizon
field in SAP APO master data has a limit of three characters. Therefore the maximum number that can be entered is 999. This means that the maximum length of the PP/DS horizon is 999 days.
