Maintaining Capacity Reservations
You use this process to manually create and change capacity reservation on a resource. The maintenance of capacity reservation is based on descriptive characteristics. Since descriptive characteristics are also propagated for semi-finished products or components, capacity reservation can be maintained for all levels.
Note
The planning of standard lots for continuous input and output does not consider capacity reservations.
You have defined a planning area and defined the characteristic values in it.
For more information, see the customizing activity documentation in Customizing for Advanced Planning and Optimization
, under .
You have created a planning object structure.
Planning area combines key figures and characteristics. This enables you to map the characteristics of either demand planning (DP) or business information warehouse (BW) to field catalogs in APO.
On the SAP Easy Access
screen, choose and choose the Data Warehousing WB
pushbutton.
You define a consumption group.
You can define up to three descriptive characteristics, for example customer, product group, and sales hierarchy. You do this in Customizing
for Advanced Planning and Optimization
,
under .
Here, each characteristic must be assigned to a corresponding field from the ATP field catalog.
You assign the consumption group to the resource and the product.
This ensures that the descriptive characteristics are assigned to the resource.
You select a resource.
Choose a resource from the SAP Easy Access
screen, under .
From the PP/DS Buck. Cap.
tab page, choose the Capacity Reservation
pushbutton.
The capacity reservation details screen is displayed. The system also displays the descriptive characteristics.
You choose a capacity reservation group along with the characteristics and also define production time per unit.
You select the date on which you would like to create capacity reservation and specify the percentage value of capacity for each characteristic value.
The system reserves capacity for the selected characteristic values. For example, you can specify 50 % for customer A, 30 % for customer B and 20 % for customer C.
Note
PP/DS optimization takes into account the capacity reservations defined by the user.
You can now maintain a reservation release date for each bucket for which a reservation has been maintained.
You have maintained reservations for the selected descriptive characteristic values. If you do not receive an order until the reservation release date, the system releases reservations for the bucket. This is done using the reservation release report.
All the reserved capacities then become available for collective allocation.
