 Characteristics Substitution Procedure

Use

In a characteristics substitution procedure, you define the sequence in which characteristics with multiple value assignments are evaluated and in which characteristic values are substituted. In the substitution procedure, you define a substitution chain for each ATP characteristics view and each characteristic.

You specify the sequence in the substitution using penalty costs for each characteristic. If several characteristics are assigned the same costs, the sequence of the characteristic values in the chain is relevant. If you use several characteristics, the system multiplies the relevant penalty costs with each other and determines the sequence of substitutions using the relevant products.

The system uses the default substitution procedure without a description in each inclusive rule if characteristics are available.

Prerequisites

You have created ATP characteristic views, and the characteristic values satisfy one of the following conditions:

  • You are using characteristics with fixed values

  • Movement data already exists with the values

  • The system has already performed an ATP check or simulation using the values

Activities

To create a characteristics substitution procedure, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Rule Maintenance Next navigation step Integrated Rule Maintenance. End of the navigation path In the Overview frame, choose Maintain characteristic substitutions and then Create New Procedure .

Example

You use a characteristic “cut” and a characteristic “material”. For the cut, you enter the material consumption as the costs, and for the material, you enter the price per meter. The substitution sequence corresponds to the actual costs assigned in each case.
