Function documentationConfirmation of Product Warehouse Tasks

If you want to change or enhance certain data, you either confirm individual product warehouse tasks manually in the foreground, or you correct a confirmation that has already been executed.

Prerequisites

You have one or more open, in other words unconfirmed, product warehouse tasks.

Features

Enhance or Change Destination Location

When you confirm a warehouse task manually, you can enhance the destination location. You can only specify one destination location, in other words either the destination storage bin, destination resource, or destination transportation unit. If Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) has already determined a destination location and specifies this, you can change the destination location. In this case, you must also specify an exception code (see “Specify Exception Codes”).

If you pack products into a destination handling unit, you can specify this destination handling unit in the warehouse task confirmation. If EWM has already determined a destination handling unit, you can change it. In this case, you must also specify an exception code.

If EWM generates a warehouse task and was not yet able to determine a source handling unit, you must specify one when confirming the warehouse task. If you are using nested handling units, you also have to specify a source handling unit when confirming the warehouse task.

You can also specify whether you want to withdraw not only the stock from a handling unit but also the handling unit itself, namely the the packaging, with the warehouse task. For example, a handling unit contains only one more piece of product A. You require exactly one piece to confirm a warehouse task, and do not want to leave any empty packaging in the storage bin. You select the indicator. When you confirm the warehouse task, EWM withdraws the handling unit as well as the product.

Enhance or Change Quantities
  • You can change neither the target quantity that you entered while generating a warehouse task, nor its unit of measure.

  • You can change the quantity and the unit of measure of the actual quantity to an alternative unit of measure. If the product is a catch weight product, you can also change the catch weight quantity and the unit of measure of the actual quantity to a valuation unit of measure. If you change the actual quantity, EWM automatically calculates the remaining quantity.

The actual quantity and the remainin quantity must add up to the target quantity.

EWM copies the target quantity in alternative unit of measure as a proposal for the actual quantity in alternative unit of measure.

  • You can specify a difference quantity, for example if parts of the delivered products are damaged. You cannot change the unit of measure. The alternative unit of measure of the difference quantity matches the alternative unit of measure of the actual quantity. If the product is a catch weight product, you can specify a difference quantity in a valuation unit of measure.

If you specify a difference quantity, you must also specify an exception code (see “Specify Exception Codes”). The actual quantity and the difference quantity must add up to the target quantity. When you confirm the warehouse task manually in the foreground, EWM confirms the whole warehouse task, in other words, no remaining quantity is left open.

  • You can change or specify the remaining quantity, that is, the remaining quantity between the planned and actual transported quantity. Here, the alternative unit of measure of the remaining quantity matches the alternative unit of measure of the actual quantity. You cannot change the alternative unit of measure.

If you specify or change the remaining quantity, you must also specify or change the actual quantity. EWM does not automatically calculate the actual quantity. The actual quantity and the remainin quantity must add up to the target quantity. If you confirm the warehouse task manually in the foreground, EWM confirms the warehouse task for the actual quantity only, in contrast to when you specify the difference quantity manually. The remaining quantity is left open.

Enhance or Change Other Data
  • If the warehouse task is relevant for the putaway physical inventory, you must confirm or reject the putaway physical inventory before you confirm the warehouse task manually in the foreground. When you confirm the putaway physical inventory and confirm the warehouse task manually in the foreground, EWM generates a physical inventory document at the same time. For more information, see Physical Inventory.

  • If the warehouse task is relevant for the low stock check, you must specify the result of the low stok check or reject the low stock check before you confirm the warehouse task manually in the foreground. If no more stock is available in the storage bin, select Zero Stock Indicator. You can specify a remaining stock as a source low stock quantity, in the alternative unit of measure.

If the warehouse task is not relevant for the low stock check, you can still request a low stock check.

  • You can enhance or change the goods receipt date of the stock during goods receipt and before saving the warehouse task.

  • You can enhance or change the shelf life expiration date or best-before date of the stock during goods receipt and before saving the warehouse task. Prerequisite for this is that the product does not have to be handled in batches.

  • You can enhance or change the country of origin of the stock during goods receipt and before saving the warehouse task. Prerequisite for this is that the product does not have to be handled in batches.

  • If the product has to be handled in batches, you can perform the following:

    • In goods receipt, you can only change existing batches for a stock. If you change this, you must also specify an exception code (see “Specify Exception Codes”). Corresponding to your entries, EWM changes the batch in the stock and in the inbound delivery. EWM also updates the goods receipt date, the shelf life expiration date and best-before date, and the country of origin, corresponding to the batch characteristics of the new batch.

    • In goods issue, you can no longer change a batch that has already been specified by EWM in the warehouse task. However, if EWM does not specify a batch in the warehouse task and the product has to be handled in batches, you must specify a batch yourself.

      Note Note

      End of the note.
  • If you confirm a warehouse task manually in the foreground, and the product requires a serial number, you can specify serial numbers.

    Note Note

For more information about serial numbers, see the following:

    End of the note.
