Synchronization

Use

The user interface includes a function for synchronizing data. It is responsible for bringing data in CATS notebook and in SAP R/3 into line.

Features

The synchronization consists of the following subprocesses:

Sending to SAP R/3 all data records that have been created, changed, or deleted in CATS notebook since the last synchronization.

Sending to CATS notebook all data records that have been created, changed, or deleted in SAP R/3 since the last synchronization.

Sending new or changed picklists for fields for working time attributes (such as orders, projects, activity types, and so on) to CATS notebook.

Sending static objects to CATS notebook (HTML documentation, messages, text elements)

Sending customer-specific tables or standard texts to CATS notebook

The graphic below shows an entire business process with CATS notebook and SAP R/3, from creating the working time attribute through to supplying data to the target components. The data is synchronized four times in the course of the example.

Nota

Please note that the example is complex and represents the entire process. All the user has to do is trigger one synchronization (SYNC 3 in the diagram), since all required information is always exchanged between CATS notebook and SAP R/3 in the course of the synchronization. You do not have to trigger a special synchronization for new working time attributes (see Selecting Working Time Attributes). The release step and approval process are also optional (see Release of Data).
